Antibiotic Pre-Medication Prior to Dental Procedures
According to current guidelines from the American Dental Association Science Institute, American Heart Association, and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons there are some conditions that may require you to take medication prior to your next dental visit. Some of these conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Prosthetic Cardiac Valves
- History of Infective Endocarditis
- Cardiac Transplant within the first 6 months
- Congenital Heart disease
- Prosthetic Joint Implants
If you have had any of these conditions, pre-medication or clarification from your physician, cardiologist or orthopedic surgeon will be necessary prior to any dental treatment. Please notify our office at your earliest convenience if you have any further questions.
